Job aspirations and burnout in students of a education university program for working adults

Abstract
Objetive: Determine the relationship between job aspirations, both intrinsic and extrinsic, and dimensions of burnout in students of the Faculty of Business of an education program for working adults at a private university of Trujillo. Material and methods: The research was non-experimental and cross-correlational. It was selected a sample of 319 students: male (47%) and female (53%), whose ages ranged between 24 and 56 years of age; and a sociodemographic questionnaire and two psychometric instruments were applied: Index of Job Aspirations and the Maslach Burnout Inventory MBI-GS. Results: It was showed a negative correlation between the intrinsic aspirations and “the core of burnout” (exhaustion and cynicism), a positive between intrinsic aspirations and professional effectiveness, as well as a positive correlation between extrinsic aspirations and professional effectiveness. Conclusion: The hypothesis was partly taken.
