Abstract

Objective: To identify risk behaviors in students of the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras.
Material and method: Descriptive, cross-sectional study. The population corresponded to 51,095 students, with a sample of 382 students calculated with Open
Epi, 95% confidence. It was doubled to increase its statistical power. The Brief Questionnaire on Self-administered Risk Behaviors based on DSMIV diagnostic criteria was used. Data were stored in access 2002-2003 and simple frequencies were analyzed using Epi-info 7.2.
Results: 56.6% of the sample corresponded to the female sex, predominantly the range 20-24 years old with 61.2%. The prevalence of CAR was 93.3%
among students. The most frequent risk eating behavior was “I was worried about getting fat”.
Conclusions: The prevalence of risky dietary behaviors among CU-UNAH students is high, with no differences between genders. The majors of the faculty of economic sciences presented the greater prevalence.
