Abstract
Introduction: A popliteal artery aneurysm is defined when its diameter is greater than 2 cm, or greater than 150% of the normal diameter. Case report: An 85-year-old male, who consulted for the presence of a mass in 1/3 distal of the right thigh. Eco Doppler was performed, which showed a Femoropopliteal aneurysm with a maximum diameter of 10.5cm. He underwent surgery, an exclusion of the aneurysmal portion was performed, restoring the flow with the interposition of a 7-4 mm tapered PTFE graft from superficial femoral artery to popliteal artery. Discussion: The repair consists of ligation of the aneurysm plus aneurysmectomy and revascularization with bypass of the ligated segment. The internal saphenous vein is the choice for revascularization, other authors advocate the use of PTFE, obtaining a permeability at 5 and 10 years of 84.7% and 88.9%, respectively.
