Abstract

Lung abscess is a circumscribed collection of pus or necrotic material localized in the lung parenchyma as a result of a bacterial infection. Is considered a disease of low prevalence, but it has an important morbimortality. This article presents the case of a 49 years old masculine patient that presents with cough and expectoration of 1 month, in which a pulmonary abscess with atypical presentation was documented and describes the image obtained via computerized tomography (CT). Also, it describes the definition, epidemiology, risk factors and clinical manifestations of this disease.
