Abstract
Psoas abscess is a rare infectious disease that is generated in the compartment of that muscle. It can be on the one hand a primary abscess, which occurs by dissemination from an unknown infectious focus, on the other hand a secondary abscess, which is caused by direct propagation of a nearby structure. The classic triad occurs in a minority of cases since the manifestations are usually nonspecific and similar to various pathologies. Because of this medical laboratories and imaging are strictly necessary for accurate diagnosis and definition of management. The current treatment is based on antibiotic therapy together with the drainage of the collection. The treatment should be established expeditiously and guided according to the cultures and clinical evolution, in order to prevent complications such as septic shock and death.
